2022 Legacies of Slavery – Large Grant

Up to £10,000 is available for research projects looking at the legacies of slavery in liberal religious movements. All applicants will be required to provide a project report for the Hibbert Trust which can be shared on the website. Successful applications will have:

  1. Clearly articulated project related to the broad theme of the funding call

  2. Clear impact and dissemination plan across liberal religious communities as well as in academic settings

  3. Named researchers with appropriate research experience

  4. Clear location in existing research in the area

  5. Strong financial and time planning

2022 Legacies of Slavery – Small Grants for Students

Undergraduate, further education and sixth form students are invited to apply for a small grant of up to £100 to support their research project related to legacies of slavery. The grant is available to cover travel, printing, exhibition entry fees or other expenses. Under 18s must have a responsible adult to support their application. Applicants will be required to provide a report for the Hibbert Trust which can be shared on the website. Successful applications will have a clearly articulated project related to the broad theme of the funding call and a clear statement of the specific funding required. Please use the standard application form (noting if necessary who the responsible adult is) but note that we do not require significant detail for each section, and please indicate if a section is not relevant to your application.

Hibbert Academic Committee Small Grants

Up to £300 is available to support research expenses for any projects which are aligned with the Hibbert Trust objectives. This might include expenses such as travel, access to archives, transcription costs or other research expenses. Applications must be received by the Academic Committee deadlines. Please use the standard application form but note that we do not require significant detail for each section, and please indicate if a section is not relevant to your application

As well as the ongoing, open, call for applications aligned with the Hibbert Trust objectives, the Academic Committee also have specific funding streams which are available and for which applications are particularly invited. Please use the standard application form.
